A novel soft-starter apparatus, soft-starter
with saturable reactor (SSSR), has been developed by Tianjin Xiandao Bell Electric
Co., Ltd.. The starting object is an asynchronous motor with normal voltage 10000V,
normal power 20000kw, respectively. The start process is completed in 34s with
motor current no more than 3 rated normal current. Thereafter, it has been operated
for 10 times. The performance indices are the same as its first operation.
The principle of SSSR is as follows: The A.C winding of the saturable reactor
is in series connection with the A.C motor. It resists against the flow of the
motor current. The resistant strength is adjusted by the D.C current, which flows
through the D.C winding of the saturable reactor. In the process of soft start,
by means of measuring the motor current and according to the principle of feedback,
the SSSR maintains the starting current within a certain interval neighboring
a designated constant.
The whole SSSR apparatus consists of 3 parts:
1) Saturable reactor 2) Control center (PLC) 3) Switch board.
In the soft starter market, there is a special type of products, which is used
to soft start A.C motor with high voltage and big power. It forms a special field
of application of soft starter and forms a special market. There exists a big
demand of this special type of products. So it is reasonable that we pay close
attention to this special market.
